The Dainty Diamond Promise
At Dainty Diamond, quality is at the heart of everything we do.
We proudly partner with reputable jewelry suppliers across the Greater Toronto Area to bring you only the finest materials and craftsmanship.
With relationships spanning over 30 years, our promise is simple: jewelry that lasts a lifetime, made just for you.
Caring For Your Jewelry Best Practices
Best Practices
- Remove everything before showering, skincare, workouts, activities and sleeping. Your metals and gemstones' ability to stay sparkly will thank you for this one. Too much movement or chemicals can stress chains, clasps and stones.
- When not wearing, lay your jewelry flat, clasp any chains and store in a safe, dry place to avoid tangling or scratching.
Fine jewelry is an investment, and with a little love and care, it will stay as beautiful as the day you received it. While you can wear your fine jewelry for everything you do, these best practices will help keep your pieces sparkly and maintain their longevity.

Tips & Tricks
SOLID GOLD
The majority of the pieces in our collections.
Our solid gold pieces are made to be worn every day, forever and more. Solid gold is the only metal that won’t tarnish, oxidize, or discolour—meaning you can wear it in the shower, at the gym, and even at the beach.
Pure gold (24k) is naturally soft, so it’s blended with other alloys to increase its durability. The resulting compositions - 10k, 14k, and 18k - are what we refer to as “solid gold.”
Karat Guide:
- 10k gold: 10 parts pure gold + 14 parts alloy
- 14k gold: 14 parts pure gold + 10 parts alloy
- 18k gold: 18 parts pure gold + 6 parts alloy
Each offers its own perfect balance of richness, strength, and color.
Care Tips
Solid gold is water-proof, sweat-proof, and life-proof.
To clean:
- Fill a shallow bowl with warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap.
- Let your jewelry soak for 5 minutes.
- Gently brush with a soft toothbrush, then pat dry with a clean towel.
- For extra shine, buff with a soft cloth.
Store your gold pieces in a dry, safe place when not worn.
STERLING SILVER
Our sterling silver pieces are plated in rhodium - one of the world’s most precious metals - giving them their signature brilliance and resistance to tarnish.
Sterling silver is composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper, offering both beauty and strength.
Care Tips
To keep your silver pieces shining:
- Remove before showering, exercising, or applying lotions or perfume.
- Lightly buff with a clean, dry cloth.
- Store in a dry place to prevent oxidation.
GOLD VERMEIL
Very few select items are made with gold vermeil
Gold Vermeil jewelry features a base metal dipped in a layer of solid gold, offering the look and glow of real gold at a more accessible price point. Because the layer is thin, these pieces require a little extra love to maintain their finish.
Care Tips
- Avoid wearing during showers, workouts, or while applying lotions and perfumes.
- Gently buff with a soft towel.
- Store in a cool, dry place to preserve the plating.
DIAMONDS
Diamonds are the most timeless and sought-after gemstones. We proudly source ours through trusted, ethical suppliers across the GTA, ensuring every diamond meets our high standards of beauty and integrity.
Care Tips
- Follow the same cleaning method as solid gold jewelry.
- Gently brush the diamond with warm water and mild soap to remove residue, then pat dry.
- Store in a soft pouch or jewelry box to prevent scratches.
ENGAGEMENT RINGS & WEDDING BANDS
Your engagement ring or wedding band is more than jewelry - it’s a symbol of love and commitment. To keep them looking flawless:
Care Tips
- Shake Test: Regularly “shake” your ring gently near your ear to check for loose stones. If you hear rattling, bring it in for maintenance right away.
- Everyday Wear: Remove rings before showering, exercising, or using lotions and perfumes to protect both the metal and stones.
- Cleaning: Use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft toothbrush to gently clean your ring. Pat dry with a clean, soft cloth.
- Storage: Store your rings separately in a soft pouch or jewelry box to avoid scratches.
Following these simple steps ensures your rings remain as sparkling and beautiful as the day you first wore them.
CUBIC ZIRCONIA
Cubic zirconia (CZ) gemstones are known for their diamond-like brilliance. They’re a beautiful, ethical, and affordable alternative to natural diamonds - used in many of our pendants, earrings, and rings.
Care Tips
Clean following the instructions for your piece’s base material (gold, silver, or plated).
Pay extra attention to gently brushing the stone with warm water and a soft cloth to remove any buildup or residue.
PEARLS
Because pearls are organic gemstones, they’re more delicate than metal or stone jewelry and should be treated with gentle care.
Care Tips
To keep your pearls luminous:
- Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, hair products, or household cleaners. Pearls are porous and can absorb chemicals that dull their shine.
- Always put your pearls on last when getting ready, and remove them first when you’re done wearing them.
- Wipe them gently with a soft, damp cloth after each wear to remove oils or residue.
- Store separately in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box to prevent scratches from other pieces.
Avoid exposing pearls to excessive moisture or heat - like showers, pools, or direct sunlight - as it can weaken their natural nacre over time.
HERRINGBONE CHAIN
Herringbone chains are sleek, flat, and wonderfully shiny - but they’re delicate and require extra care. Because of their unique design, they can kink or bend if not handled properly.
Care Tips
- Avoid tugging, twisting, or wearing under clothing that could catch the chain.
- Remove before showering, swimming, exercising, or applying lotions and perfumes.
- Store flat in a soft pouch or jewelry box to prevent tangling or kinks.
- To clean, gently wipe with a soft cloth; avoid aggressive brushing or bending.
With the right care, your herringbone chain will keep its smooth, luminous finish for years to come.
